Each week includes a mix of instruction, skill drills, and practical application, allowing students to progressively improve their abilities and confidence. Emphasis is placed on understanding fencing etiquette, safety practices, and the strategic elements of the sport. The curriculum emphasizes situational sparring, where students apply their skills in various scenarios to develop a sharper sense of timing and anticipation. Coaches provide personalized feedback to address individual areas for improvement and help fencers develop their unique style. Additionally, the classes often incorporate drills designed to improve reaction speed and mental agility, preparing fencers for more competitive environments. Overall, intermediate classes aim to elevate a fencer’s performance, ensuring they are well-equipped to face more challenging opponents and competitions.

Mini-fence Classes

Mini-fence classes are designed to introduce young learners to the sport in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate manner. These classes focus on building physical literacy in children, all while fostering a love for sport and training through interactive games and activities. Emphasis is placed on developing coordination, discipline, and sportsmanship, ensuring that children learn both the physical and mental aspects of fencing in a supportive environment, all the while developing fundamental fencing skills such as basic footwork, blade work, and proper form. The classes also incorporate lessons on safety and etiquette, helping kids understand the importance of respect and responsibility on and off the strip. By creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere, kids’ fencing classes aim to build confidence, improve fitness, and lay the groundwork for future advancement in sport and life.

Mini-fence classes use plastic equipment, primarily for safety and practicality. Young fencers are still developing their coordination and control, so plastic gear minimizes the risk of injury compared to traditional metal equipment. Plastic masks and sabres are lighter and less likely to cause harm during accidental hits or falls. By using plastic gear, fencing programs can ensure a safer and more manageable introduction to the sport while maintaining an environment conducive to learning and growth.

Our mini-fence programming is available for children aged *6-8 (some variation available. Please contact with any questions).
