Coaches

Coach Mike has over thirty years of fencing experience as an athlete, coach and referee.

He has competed internationally as a member of the Canadian national squad, medalled multiple times at the national level, and been named an Ontario University Champion and Provincial Champion.

Coach Mike is NCCP certified, SafeSport and First Aid CPR-AED trained. He has an extensive resume of experience including coaching multiple US Nationals medallists from Y10-Veteran age groups, a three time Veteran World Championships Bronze medallist, Canadian national team members, as well as having served as head coach for Team Canada at the 2022 Commonwealth Championships in London, England.

Coach Mike is also an internationally certified referee in all three disciplines of fencing since 2013. He has refereed at the Military World Games, Veteran World Championships, Pan American Games and Championships, multiple World Cup and Grand Prix events, as well countless Canadian and US National Championships.

Coach Mike is excited to begin his next chapter as Owner of Right of Way Fencing Academy, and looks forward to sharing his passion and knowledge of fencing, and growing the sport in his hometown of Kitchener!
